Thirty point Six, recurring

It's a commonly held belief that bad things always come in threes. It wasn't unexpected news, but the third piece of significant Bad News hit this morning - although it's nowhere near as bad as it could have been.

I've now been officially diagnosed with arthritis in both knees and my left ankle. At this point they can't tell me which type, or the severity. Blood tests and general poking about to follow.

That said, good things come in threes as well (he said, grinning smugly if a little enigmatically 8).

All will be ok. There are so many more treatments out there for managing arthritis these days. Not that I have already been reading up on it, oh no, not me ;-)

I recently got told by the GP that the ache in my thumbs is "probably arthritis". After wibbling lots, arthritis in my thumbs is likely to stop me painting at all if it gets worse, I went out and bought a copper (gold plated) thumb ring with small magnets inside. The magnets fell out, so I have no idea whether they would have helped, but I've had almost no pain in my right thumb from approx one week after I started wearing it. I'm generally sceptical about most such claims, but my dad always swore by a copper ring (he'd cut one from a piece of copper pipe the appropriate diametre) for his arthritic fingers. If the pain flares up in the left thumb again, I'll consider buying a matching one for that hand.

I've been told that a bracelet would have the same effect, but I can't stand things around my wrists. Maybe an anklet would help you?

And, er... I don't think you're being as enigmatic as you could ;-)
