Current details

Got to work yesterday. Was totally unable to concentrate. Made my excuses and left and made my way the 225 miles south to be with Dad and my brothers and sisters.

Dad isn't, it turns out, breathing unassisted as such. He's got a mask on which gives him access to more oxygen than anyone could possibly need, which is a good thing. When I saw him, he implied that I had put on a lot of weight...if he's still joking, there's a lot of hope. Still no positive changes, but on the other hand, no negative ones either. I will keep you posted.

Just got back from the hospital. We've had one Big Talk with the doctor who's looking after Dad, and now we've had one here with me and my siblings. Dad is worse than the doctor was expecting at this point. Things look bad but not hopeless. Keep him in your thoughts, please.
