Music Quiz: "G"

All the following lyrics come from songs in the UK Top 10 singles chart, from its inception in 1952 to the present day, as referred to on www.everyhit.com.

Ignoring silly words like "The" and "A", nine of the songs come from artists beginning with the letter "G". The tenth and last song on the list has a title beginning with the letter "G".

Name the artist of each song for one point, and get another for naming the song. Please don't use internet search services to look these details up.

Answers will be screened until Friday afternoon, when I'll post the answers and the scores!

I had to think about no 1 really hard - the song is You'll Never Walk Alone, and it's from the musical Carousel, but I'm damned if I can think who the artist you are looking for is! May I have an extra point for knowing the musical? :)

Gammy Legged Vera Lynn - You'll never walk a loan - errrrr someone doing that with a G are we looking for a cover rather than an original perhaps? it's got a frankie goes to hollywood type feel to it to me, gods help me, so gerry and the pacemakers? They were from about the 60s but i think the song is more ww2 era, but I have no ww2 singers starting with "G".
