Long weekend
Jul. 18th, 2006 11:10 amWhen I woke up on Saturday morning, I honestly thought that the Sport Relief run I'd agreed to do was on Sunday. So when I saw the hype about it starting on the BBC, my thought processes paralleled Hugh Grant's in Four Weddings and a Funeral. Suffice to say, I pulled myself together enough to get down to Urbis in Manchester in plenty of time.
The in-flight entertainment was a DJ, a couple of presumed radio personalities who I wouldn't know from Adam, a couple of Man City players, and two fitness coaches who warmed us up. I was quite looking forward to the run now.
10 minutes and 36 seconds of lung-busting torture later, I crossed the finishing line. Once I got my breath back, I was quite pleased with myself. I changed into a fresh tee-shirt, and went for something to eat in the Village. I also spent most of the rest of the day coughing like a smoker.
Sunday and Monday were, frankly, poor. I don't know if it was the exertion or the heat or some combination, but I could barely move. Food plummeted down the agenda, too, although I went through copious amounts of apple juice. I had to pull out of the B5 session at Mary's and the baseball at James's, both of which I was really looking forward to. I'm currently at work and basically on autopilot, as I still feel as rough as sandpaper. Hopefully, once I get home, things will improve.
